Usher’s son, Usher Raymond V, is doing fine after he nearly drowned in a pool in Atlanta, according to a report on Wednesday.

“I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering,” the singer said in a statement obtained by E! Online.

He added: “I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family’s well-being. I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock.”

A friend of Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster said that his son is doing “fine” and is in “stable condition” at the “Healthcare of Atlanta Scottish Rite and is being held for observation.”

She filed documents on Tuesday at the Fulton County Superior Court for regarding custody of the child.

“(Usher) leaves the minor children in the care of a third-party approximately 85% of his parenting time due to his work related schedule, yet refuses to allow the children to remain in my physical custody while he is out of town,” Raymond stated, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In the incident two days ago, Usher Raymond V was playing the pool when he tried to get a toy in the drain. His arm got stuck and it required several people to pull him out. His father was not around, and the boy was being cared for by a relative.

Last year, Foster’s biological son and Usher’s stepson Kile Glover was declared brain dead and then died after he was hit by a personal watercraft. The term “Usher son brain dead” was trending on a popular aggregation website on Wednesday.
