Rebecca Greene, a missing University of Georgia student, was found dead on Tuesday.

Rebecca Elaine Greene was reported missing on Monday evening, Georgia officials said. The last known contact she had with anyone was at 5:30 p.m.

Greene’s body was found in a creek off the side of The Plaza near Indale Avenue in west Athens.

Greene was 22.

Greene’s body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, Jon Shirek of WXIA-TV reported. But preliminary autopsy results indicate that there were no signs of foul play in Greene’s death.

Police found Greene’s body after they pinged her cellphone signal.

Investigators spent hours on Tuesday looking for clues in and around the creek. Among the evidence they recovered: her bicycle, and her cell phone, reported Carl Willis of WSB-TV.

She lived in the 200 block of Indale Avenue, a street that connects The Plaza and Glendale Avenue. The home isn’t far from where the body was found.

Greene’s boyfriend lived with her and was the one who reported her missing, reported OnlineAthens.com. He last spoke with Greene at 5:30 p.m. Monday when she was scheduled to be at the university’s science library.

Her boyfriend was going to pick her up but Greene later sent a text saying she didn’t need a ride anymore.

When further texts weren’t answered by Greene, and after her phone was turned off later on, her boyfriend alerted Greene’s parents then police.

Friends mourned the death online.

“You’ve been my best friend since I was 7. We wrote in our yearbooks that we'll be friends forever and even our kids will be too,” said Jacqueline Leyva via Twitter. “#RIPRebecca.”
