Fergie is changing her name to Fergie Duhamel, according to a report. The Black Eyed Peas singer was born Stacy Ann Ferguson but wants to change to her husband’s name.

TMZ reported that the 38-year-old “Fergalicious” star filed the legal paperwork to enact the change.

She is making the change around four years after marrying actor Josh Duhamel.

Her lawyer told the website the reason is to “conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years.”

In a twist, she has to publish a notice in a local newspaper announcing the change for four weeks. NBA player Ron Artest had to do the same when he changed his name to Metta World Peace.

Duhamel, 40, said recently that he is looking forward to being a father, according to Contactmusic.com.

‘‘Everyone is saying, ’You better sleep now [because] you’re not going to get any when the baby’s here,‘ [and] ’Oh, your life is over after that,‘ [and] ’Oh, it’s the most beautiful thing ever, but it’s tough,” he said. ‘‘I look forward to putting the attention [on the baby]. All the love that you have for something like that is what makes it so great and I think we are both ready for that.’’
