NEW YORK -- An NYPD narcotics detective was arrested on Tuesday on sexual misconduct charges for violating the civil rights of three women, according to an FBI statement. Oscar Sandino, 37, was a 13-year veteran of the police department and allegedly committed the misdeeds from 2006 to 2009.
The FBI said that he forced two female drug suspects that he arrested and another woman to perform sex acts in exchange for more lenient charges. He allegedly harassed one of the women for several months after the initial incident. The NYPD made Sandino inactive in 2008 when allegations against him first emerged. If convicted, he faces three years in prison.
