Authorities said that they have discovered bomb-making materials and assault rifles in the home of a New Jersey doctor Friday, it was reported.
The materials include large amounts of chemicals that are commonly used to make explosives, prosecutors told the Bergen County Record.
Roberto Rivera, a 60-year-old unemployed doctor, faces charges for possession of a destructive device, among others. Authorities also found a cache of assault rifles and other weapons in Rivera’s home.
The Record said that Rivera has ties to the Occupy Wall Street movement.
An Occupy spokesman, William Dobbs, told the Ridgewood Patch that the movement is about demonstrating “Wall Street greed and is firmly committed to nonviolence.”
“Mr. Rivera, as anyone charged with a crime, is entitled to fairness and due process including reasonable bail,” Dobbs added.
FBI Special Agent Barbara Woodruff told the Patch that an investigation is ongoing, saying, “The scene is definitely secured so there’s no reason for concern.”
