After the first two races of the eight-race Winter Saturday Series at Hebe Haven Yacht Club on Saturday Nov 2, “Vixen” leads the IRC Division and “Tara” heads the HKPN standings. This bi-weekly series covers four race days finishing on Dec 14.

IRC
“Outrageous” took line honours in both IRC races, but finished fourth and third respectively on corrected time in Races-1 and -2. “Talkinghead” won Race-1 on calculated time, with “Vixen” in second place.

“Vixen” improved further in Race-2 taking first place putting her on a total of 3-points for the two races. “Mojito” came in second in Race-2, putting her in equal second place overall together with “Talkinghead” on 4-points.

HKPN
“Bits and Pieces”, who took line honours in both races, still has a big handicap problem competing in the HKPN Division, but, owner of “Bits”, Toby Jenkin-Jones told the Epoch Times that he needs to do modifications to the bow sprit before he can get an IRC rating.

“Tara”, who was only about 2-minutes adrift of Bits on elapsed time, took first place in both races, while “Goddess” took second place in each of the two races.

“Rhapsody” took third place in Race-1, but dropped down the order to eighth in Race-2. “Jazz”, helmed by Justin Shave, finished in fourth and third places respectively to take third position overall.

Flying Fifteen World Championships
Following their win in the Hong Kong National Championships last week, defending World Champions Graham Vials and Chris Turner, of Great Britain, were 7-points clear of the field after five races of the seven-race Flying Fifteens 19th World Championship in Hong Kong.

On provisional results and net points after five races, Vials and Turner led the championship with 7-points from “Ineffable” and “El Toro”, who are both on 12 points.

The series is due to finish today Nov 7.

Next Races

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Lipton Trophy takes place on Saturday Nov 9 and is followed the next day by the Tommy Bahama Round the Island Race, which should be great spectacle attracting up to 200 boats.

The next Winter Saturday Race is on Nov 16.
