Search teams resumed their efforts to find two young cousins who went missing. Nearly 1,000 volunteers are looking through an area in Evansdale, Iowa.

Lyric Cook-Morrissey, 10, and her cousin Elizabeth Collins, 8, were last seen on Friday, and their bikes were spotted later on a bike trail. Collins’s purse was also found, reported the Quad-City Times in Iowa.

“I couldn’t not come out when there are children missing,” said Carrie Yu, who lives nearby and is volunteering to look for the two cousins, according to the Des Moines Register. “I have three kids at home. If something happened to one of them, I would want someone to help.”

Rescue workers conducted the search via horseback and on four-wheelers, and had rescue dogs, local WHO-TV reported.

Black Hawk Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Abben told the Register that “there’s nothing to indicate anything at this time other than that we have two missing girls.” It had been speculated the girls fell into a nearby lake.
