Scott Williams has been identified as one of the people shot in the Washington Navy Yard shooting on Monday.

Williams, a Metropolitan Police Department officer, was shot and underwent surgery at the Washington Hospital Center earlier in the day.

At least 12 people were killed in the shooting, plus the shooter Aaron Alexis. There may have been another shooter.

The eight people who were injured in the attack are age 46 to 73. Three, including Williams, were shot.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray said that Williams is “doing well.”

“He’s in very good spirits,” said a police official. “He’s got a pretty serious injury, but right now his family is with him and he’s in good spirits.”

Police and the FBI are investigating where the weapons Alexis used came from, as well as where he had been recently.

Alexis had “legitimate access” to the Navy Yard in his role as a contractor, said one FBI official on Monday night.
