Police have said that a grandmother fatally shot her two grandsons and then turned the gun on herself, it was reported Wednesday.
Debra Denison, 47, picked up the two small children, who were aged 2 and 6, at a Connecticut daycare, reported The Associated Press.
Their bodies were discovered on Tuesday night in a car near Lake of Isles in the town Preston just two hours after an Amber Alert was issued, reported NBC Connecticut.
Police described the incident as a double murder and a suicide. The three have apparent gunshot wounds, and Denison was armed with revolver when she left her home on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The mother of the boys, Brenda Perry, called the police at around 4 p.m., when she heard no word from the boys and their grandmother.
An Amber Alert was sent out around 7:30 p.m. when a family member found a suicide note left behind by Denison.

When authorities “retained that information, we ramped it up additionally and did everything we could, used every tool to attempt to locate these three people,” Vance said.
Nikki Salaun, the director of the Kidds & Co. daycare center from where the kids were picked up, said that Denison appeared friendly and talkative, reported AP.
Family members said she suffered from bipolar disorder and also had a history of mental health problems, according to the news agency. She had two convictions for minor driving offenses.
