Police are searching for the attacker in the case of a severely beaten woman who was found in waist-deep water in St. Petersburg, Florida on Wednesday. She remains in critical condition as of Wednesday.

The injuries of the woman, whose identity is being withheld, are so severe that she cannot talk to authorities. The report from the St. Petersburg Police Department says the woman was wearing a club wristband when she was discovered. They are hoping the wristband will provide clues to her attacker.

The morning after Christmas, the woman was found by two other women who heard her cries near Coquina Key Dog Park, 3595 Locust Street SE in St. Petersburg. She was discovered in a bayou approximately 15 feet away from the shore next to some mangroves. According to reports, she was able to keep her head above the water and cry for help.

The 38 year-old Caucasian woman is now in Bayfront Medical Center, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department press release. Police are saying the case is attempted murder due to the severity of the injuries and also because she was left in waist-deep water.

Police are asking the public to help find out more information about the case or if anyone can identify what club uses the wristband.
