An Arizona couple’s second lottery win may prove to some skeptics that lightening can strike the same spot twice.

In 1995, Diane and Kerry Carmichael of Tempe, Ariz., won the $2.5 million jackpot in the Arizona Lottery’s The Pick. Their $125,000 annuity is set to expire in December 2014, but the couple won’t be strapped for cash after that—they won another $1 million in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing.
They will “resist the urge to splurge,” the retired couple told CBS.
“It was my ticket this time, the first time it was his ticket, so, I got the thrill of saying, ‘I won,’” Diane Carmichael told local news broadcaster Arizona Family.
On the Arizona Lottery website, in the Hall of Winners next to their photo is the quote, “Good things come in three’s. Two down and one to go.”
