NEW YORK—About 5,000 tickets for seats in bleachers along the route of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be given to families who have been impacted by Superstorm Sandy, announced Mayor Michael Bloomberg Thursday.
The ticket distribution will be overseen by locally elected officials from the neighborhoods “hardest hit by Sandy,” according to the mayor’s office. Macy’s will provide transportation to and from the parade.
“It is our ultimate hope that we can provide some comfort to those most affected by Hurricane Sandy,” said Amy Kule, the parade’s executive producer, in a statement.
