Two pedestrians were killed in a car crash in North Seattle on Monday, it was reported. A young mother and infant were critically wounded.

A man driving a black truck hit four pedestrians on Monday as they were crossing a street, reported the Seattle Times.

The young mother and infant were transported to Harborview Medical Center and are said to be in critical condition. The woman, 25, sustained a head injury while the infant required CPR.

“When we arrived on scene, that infant was not breathing, so we initiated CPR and got the heartbeat back,” Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

As police taped off the scene, people gathered around, looking stunned.

Seattle Police Deputy Chief Nick Metz told the paper: “This is obviously a very tragic situation. It’s not very normal that we have this level of folks who are victimized in this way.”

Authorities evaluated to see if the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was placed in a “DUI Squid” vehicle and was arrested, reported the Times.

KIRO TV reported the man was wearing a “North Seattle Baseball Pony League,” and students said he is a youth baseball coach.

“It’s a good reminder to drivers that pedestrians have the right of way, but it’s also a good reminder to pedestrians to not rely on drivers to stop when they are crossing an intersection whether it’s marked or otherwise. Take that extra moment to make eye contact with the driver,” Metz told the Times.

5.5 is not a big shaking and I do not expect anyone to be badly hurt. The earth shakes to bring it back to the equilibrium state and this is the normal thing to happen when there is a place to go lower.
