$81,500 returned: Two Norwegian teens have returned $81,500 that was found in a bag on a train that was left by an elderly passenger.

“When I opened the bag, the first thing I saw were these wads and wads of bills,” one of the teens, named Bendik, was quoted by AFP as saying.

“My first thought was to call the police,” he said.

Upon further examination, the two found the owner’s passport, who was a man in his 70s. He is slated to pick up the money on Thursday.

Police told the news agency that they do not think any foul play is behind the massive sum of cash.

Authorities also did not say if the teenagers were rewarded for finding the money.

The honest gesture comes just a few days after a dumpster diver in Tennessee found nearly $4,000 in cash in a dumpster. He found the bills in a plastic bag and saw that they were returned to its rightful owner.

In March, a Philadelphia-area woman found $30,000 in some clothes but she also returned it.

“I had to give it back,” Carol Sutor, of Bristol, Penn., said at the time. “I believe in karma, whatever I do will come back to me, good or bad.”

Earlier in March, a University of Delaware student gave back $1,800 that was mistakenly dispensed by an ATM on campus.

“After a couple days of just thinking about it, the right thing would be just to return the money. I mean, it was just eating at me at the time because it isn’t mine and I didn’t even know what to do with it,” said student Devon Gluck.
