Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez pitched seven shutout innings Sunday at Yankee Stadium as the Tigers blanked the cold-hitting Yankees 3–0 in Game 2 of the ALCS to take a 2-0 series lead back to Detroit.

New York’s bats got just four hits on the day—their first without the injured Derek Jeter who is lost for the remainder of the playoffs with a fractured ankle.

The game was scoreless through six innings until Detroit finally broke through with a run in the seventh. Then with two outs in the eighth and a runner on first Austin Jackson singled to right but an overly-aggressive running Omar Infante rounded second too far and appeared to be out trying to get back as Nick Swisher’s throw beat him to the bag.

The Tigers would tack on two more runs after the erroneous call while manager Joe Girardi was eventually ejected for arguing.
