Eugene Martinez, a sex offender who failed to register, escaped from Denver police custody on Wednesday and is still at large.

The 48-year-old male is wanted for failing to register as a sex offender.

Martinez is around 5’4” and weighs about 120 pounds. He has a guitar tattoo with wind and the name “Diane” on it, reported 9 News. He also has a forehead scar.

He was last seen wearing a black, zip-up hooded sweatshirt and black jeans with blue sweatpants underneath.

A source told Fox-13 that he was able to slip out of his handcuffs.

“Martinez has an extensive history of sexual assault in both Pueblo and Denver dating to 1994,” reads a police bulletin.

The Denver Post notes that police on Wednesday did not issue a release to the public about Martinez until around 90 minutes after it happened. No announcement was made on its Twitter account.
