Peter Lenz, 13-Year-Old Motocycle Racer, Dies

Peter Lenz, a 13-year-old motorcycle racer from Vancouver, Washington, died on Sunday after falling from his bike at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Xavier Zayat, a 12-year-old racer from New York, ran over Lenz.

Lenz was placed in a neck brace, put on a stretcher, and received chest compressions, before he was sent to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

The Marion County coroner announced that Lenz had experienced "traumatic injuries" and died three hours later.

He is the youngest to die at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and is the first to die on the track after IndyCar driver Tony Renna died in 2003.
