Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez (16–6) went five and two-thirds innings Sunday, allowing just one run as the Washington Nationals took the rubber game of the three-game set against the Mets with a 5–2 win.
Jeremy Hefner (2–5) took the loss, allowing five runs off eight hits in five innings of work.
David Wright was one of five Mets with two hits on the game as the team totaled 11 altogether. Unfortunately for New York they didn’t get them when they needed them, going just 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position en route to leaving 10 on base.
