The running back-thinned New York Jets may use multipurpose quarterback Tim Tebow at running back Sunday against New England, according to a report on the NFL’s website.

“That’s a possibility,” Rex Ryan said. “The thing about Tim, with him being a football player like we’ve always talked about … by playing quarterback, he knows all the positions. And so can you plug him in at running back? Plug him in at tight end? Whatever … I think the answer is yes.”

With backups Joe McKnight not practicing with a high-ankle sprain and Bilal Powell out with a shoulder injury the Jets are thin on options. To add to it, they haven’t signed another running back, which may be a sign that the underused Tebow may be adding to his résumé this Sunday.
