Mets outfielder Jason Bay returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing more than a month with a concussion, the latest injury that’s derailed his 2012 season.
“I’m just trying to jump in,” Bay said, according to a report on the team’s website. “Obviously things haven’t gone right. I’ve struggled a little bit. I’m not trying to carry the team. I’m not trying to do that. I’m just trying to pitch in.”
The right-handed-hitting Bay has played in just seven games since April 23rd and is hitting just .179 on the season with 4 home runs and 6 RBIs in 78 at-bats.
Once a feared power-hitter with the Pirates and Red Sox, the Mets could use a return to form by the 33-year-old Bay to complement the right-handed hitting David Wright. The Epoch Times publishes in 35 countries and in 19 languages. Subscribe to our e-newsletter.
