Women’s Premier League hockey has taken a back seat for a few weeks as the Hong Kong Hockey Association’s Women’s National Squad have been preparing for their trip to compete in the third Women’s AHF Cup to be held in Singapore, from Dec 6 to 16.
The 18-player squad will be led by Head Coach Tina Bell-Kake to compete against hosts Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
The Hong Kong Squad includes players from each of the main hockey clubs: seven players from HKFC, last year’s Premier Champions; five players from KCC; three from Shaheen; two from Valley; and one from Elite. Of the Premier League clubs, newcomers to the league, Recreio is the only one to miss out in the selection.
This is a qualifier competition to join China, Korea, Japan and India who have already qualified for Women’s Asia Cup 2013. The top two teams from the qualifying competition will gain automatic entry into the Women’s Asia Cup 2013.
