Arshad Haroon Mohammad played in an Under-13 Cricket match for Little Sai Wan against Kowloon Cricket Club at PKVR Sports Ground on Sunday Dec 16. He is a promising all-round cricketer.
He opened the batting at No. 2 for the LSW club and scored 100.
“It was not very hard just taking some singles, playing some ground shot and picking out the loose balls,” Arshad told The Epoch Times.
His team-mate Janghir scored 23 as LSW scored 229. KCC in reply could only score 129 against the LSW bowlers.
Haroon is one of many youngsters being developed by the Little Sai Wan Cricket Club. They have players at the national level at all age groups and older players and visiting coaches spend a lot of time on developing the youngsters.
As with other sports such as Hockey, Rugby and Soccer, many clubs in Hong Kong try to involve youngsters in sport to keep them occupied and keep them away from drugs and other bad things that they might be drawn into as they grow up.
