The HKRNVR Memorial Vase, the final race of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s 2012-2013 Top Dog Series, was held last Saturday March 2, with the overall title won by Ambush.

Squiffy, a Flying 15 skippered by Joe/David, was the first boat to finish in the Vase race.

The Top Dog Pursuit Series – which started last November with the Lipton Trophy, followed by the Round the Island Race and the Tomes Cup, and ending with the HKRNVR Memorial Vase – is one of the biggest in the RHKYC racing calendar with over 120 boats taking part.

For HKRNVR Memorial Vase, which started and finished in Victoria Harbour and extends to the outer reaches of the Harbour, there were 63 boats. The race started in lively weather conditions ended with many boats almost becalmed.

Ambush, skippered by Taylor/Isler in the Big Boat Category, came in third last Saturday to maintain her top position and win the Top Dog Series trophy, followed by Red Kite II (Anthony Root) and Peninsula Signal 8 (Jamie McWilliam).
