A huge collision between Anthony Davidson in the #8 Toyota and the #81 AF Corse driven by Pierguiseppe Perazzini left the Toyota ruined and wedged in the tire wall and the Ferrari on its roof.

Davidson was passing the Ferrari into a corner when the Ferrari cut across into the Toyota, turning it sideways. The Toyota flew into the air and flipped before slamming down and into the tire barrier. The Ferrari slid into the tire wall, bounced off and flipped.

Both, drivers exited their cars. Perazzini walked behind the tire wall, and Davis laid down on the sidepod of the wrecked Toyota, where EMTs attended to him.

Apparently the Ferrari driver was not paying attention to traffic; the Toyota was more than halfway past the Ferrari before Perazzini cut over.

A safety car had to be deployed because the wreckage blocked the track.

The second Toyota led the race when the caution period started. The #1 Audi pitted and left the pits ahead of the Toyota in order to retake the lead.

The #3 Audi and the #17 Dome have both rejoined the race during the safety car period.
