SAN FRANCISCO—Shen Yun Performing Arts had security director Vincent Sanchez smiling throughout the performance Wednesday night at the SHN Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco.
“I love it; it’s amazing. I kind of don’t have words to say. I have a feeling in my heart, my soul. It’s just very touching,” Mr. Sanchez said.
Traditional Chinese culture, as presented by New York-based Shen Yun through arts like classical Chinese dance, is believed to be divinely inspired.
“To me, it just makes me appreciate being a human being and the value of the divine,” Mr. Sanchez said.
He was particularly touched by scenes from Chinese myths depicting the Creator descending from heaven to earth, displayed with the help of Shen Yun’s animated backdrop.
“The back screen of the show incorporates the whole show together so it’s like one whole piece,” Mr. Sanchez said. “It makes you feel the importance of a higher being touching upon this great performance.”
The traditional cultural values of benevolence, good-versus-evil, and wisdom and propriety, as listed on Shen Yun’s website, are present throughout the performance.
“I think it makes you feel like you’re—I’m from California, so—it makes me feel like I’m part of something, a larger world,” Mr. Sanchez said. “It makes me appreciate different cultures.”
“The show thus far is amazing and very moving and you could feel—I’ve been smiling most of the performance, so it’s a great feeling,” Mr. Sanchez said.
Mr. Sanchez was impressed with the elegance of the dancers.
“Their movement, the music is fantastic, the flips are amazing,” he said. “I think it’s a great performance, and it’s very touching.”
