MONTREAL—Richard Brotto saw Shen Yun Performing Arts and its presentation of traditional Chinese culture for the second time on Jan. 6.
“Show was great … colours are great, costumes are great. Really, really nice show,” Mr. Brotto, who owns the CMR Home Video, said after seeing the show at the Place des Arts with his family.
Mr. Brotto noted that Shen Yun presented a completely new production compared to the show he saw a few years ago.
New York-based Shen Yun presents classical Chinese dance and music. Founded in 2006, the company tours the world each year with an entirely new lineup of dances, songs, and musical scores.
“We wanted to see again what they had changed in the show and honestly, the show’s a brand new show,” Mr. Brotto said.
Some of the aspects of the show that particularly impressed Mr. Brotto were the hundreds of hand-made costumes, as well as the state-of-the art digital backdrops.
“The backdrops are very nice, very interesting. Very well-coordinated, timing was perfect,” he said about the backdrops and their interaction with the stage.
He also praised the Shen Yun Orchestra, which combines classical Western and Chinese instruments.
“It was very good.”
