“This was our first time and we greatly enjoyed it,” Hasan Dikme said. “We found it very fascinating—it was brilliant.”
LONDON—”Fascinating,” “brilliant,” and “amazing” are the adjectives used by Design and Structural Engineer Hasan Dikme after seeing Shen Yun’s final performance at the Barbican Centre on Saturday, March 9.
Mr. Dikme, who runs his own construction and design company, watched Shen Yun Performing Arts’ New York Company with his wife, Dilek, a banker.
“This was our first time and we greatly enjoyed it,” he said. “We found it very fascinating—it was brilliant.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts puts on all-new shows every year, showcasing the 5,000 years of China’s divinely inspired culture to audiences across the world. Shen Yun’s three equally large companies are currently amidst their global tour.
Mr. Dikme felt the performance gave him an insight into Chinese culture, and he was dazzled by the entire production.
“The colourfulness of the costumes was amazing,” he said. “The scenery, the performance company itself—I think they were brilliant. All of them did a great job.”
According to Shen Yun’s website: “Every costume in a Shen Yun performance is presented with brilliant colors, displaying a splendid spectacle.”
The costumes featured in Shen Yun’s performances include Han Chinese clothing, ethnic Chinese costumes, and heavenly regalia—each taking the audience on a journey across different parts of China and through different dynasties.
Mr. and Mrs. Dikme said they are already planning to bring their family members to Shen Yun in London next year.
“We will probably bring our kids next year. We really want to expose them to this kind of culture,” he said.
