Chinese people are quietly spreading DVDs of Shen Yun Performing Arts, a premier performing arts company that specializes in classical Chinese dance. Those who have seen a DVD of the performance have been touched and are looking forward to the day when Shen Yun can visit mainland China, so that they see the show in person. Currently Shen Yun cannot travel to China because of the Chinese communist regime’s restrictions on artistic expression.

‘Real Chinese Culture’

A retired school principal in Pingshan County of Hebei province, after watching the Shen Yun DVD, said: “This is our real Chinese culture. The New Year’s show by CCTV [the state broadcaster] is nothing but ruining people. You can tell the Chinese Communist Party no longer has talented supporters. I have finally seen authentic Chinese culture, for the first time in in my life. It makes it worth living.” He said he shared it with his friends and they all highly praised the show.

A retired chief editor for a city daily newspaper in Hebei Province expressed the same thing. He said that for a show like Shen Yun to travel the world is a great promotion for traditional Chinese culture.

A retired senior teacher in Chongqing said, “Great performance! This is the real Chinese culture of ours, the divine culture.” His son is a newspaper editor. After watching Shen Yun, his son said, “The CCP is doomed. It’s too corrupt. It’s going down whether it tries anti-corruption reforms or not.”

Shen Yun ‘Can Move’ China

A county’s CCP deputy secretary general in Fuyang City of Anhui Province said emotionally after seeing the Shen Yun DVD, “Nothing can compare to a Shen Yun performance. The costumes, backdrops and music are all the best. The show presents the 5,000-year old Chinese civilization from the beginning till now. The show can move all of China, if they can perform in mainland China.”

Ms. Peng, who works in the Central-South Design Institute in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, got a Shen Yun DVD from a friend. She and her family watched it together.

Ms. Peng’s husband said, “The backdrop is so beautiful. Well done.” Ms. Peng’s mother-in-law asked, “Why can Shen Yun perform overseas but not visit China?” Ms. Peng said, “It’s because of the communist dictatorship. There is freedom to speech outside China.”

‘So Beautiful’

Mr. Qi, a senior engineer in Hebei Province, watched the DVD with his wife. He said Shen Yun was, “So beautiful, so pure. No Chinese show in the mainland can compare to it. The dancers and backdrop are so beautiful. We have only seen it once, we will watch it again.”

He also said “Programs on TV in China are so vulgar they make the audience feel sick.”

Mr. Liu Dapeng in Qinhuangdao of Hebei Province said, “when I was watching Shen Yun, it felt like I was in heaven. There was a special and comfortable feeling. Shen Yun is so beautiful. The dancers have excellent skills, and carry a kind of very good energy which is hard to express with words.” He said he is eager to see Shen Yun perform live in a theater.

Ms. Li is a finance director for a large corporation in China. She said, “I wasn’t interested in dance, singing or TV. But this show touched my soul deeply and I cannot help but keep watching. I feel serenity in my heart when watching the dances. The stage design and the colors are so beautiful. Blue and purple are my favorite colors.”

Her friend, a finance manager in an international company, said, “The show is perfect. You can only see such a beautiful, uplifting and elegant show on Shen Yun’s stage. You cannot find it anywhere else. I truly hope all Chinese people can get to see the show and enjoy it.”
