ESCONDIDO, Calif.—The California Center for the Performing Arts once again played host to Shen Yun Performing Arts and welcomed enthusiastic theatergoers to its matinee on New Year’s Eve. Among the members in the audience was Jack Pieron, Managing Director and Co-founder of TradeSpot FX, LLC.
“It was really good, I’ve never seen anything like that before,” said Mr. Pieron. “It was pretty cool.”
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive the 5,000 years of Chinese history and culture lost during the past 60 years of Communist rule and to the Great Cultural Revolution. It has been said that ancient China’s culture was brought to earth from the heavens, and since the culture is divinely inspired, it is opposed by the principles of the atheist communist regime.
Through the beauty of its performing arts, Shen Yun’s dance, music, and song enlighten its viewers to China’s classic literature, history, ethnic, folk and classical dance, as well as the myths and legends of the past 5,000 years.
The Mongolian Bowl Dance was once dance that stood out for Mr. Pieron. He added further, “It was really cool how they integrated the video with the dancing.”
Mr. Pieron was encouraged to come to see Shen Yun by a friend who used to live in China, and who has seen Shen Yun three years in a row. Through his friend, Mr. Pieron learned about Falun Gong and its persecution at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), something he was previously unaware of.
Another audience member, Petra Zenker, a financial analyst with Hewlett Pakcard, had just arrived from Germany the day before the show. Ms. Zenker decided to see Shen Yun after coming across a brochure. “It’s beautiful. It’s incredible,” Ms. Zenker said. “Really nice—the colors and how they dance … it’s just fantastic!”
Reiner Winkler, who is also from Germany, enjoyed the show greatly. “The choreography is beautiful,” he said. Their traveling companion, Raul Rina, agreed, “It’s a good start for a new year!”
