SAN JOSE, Calif.—Mrs. Soon Kim, who together with her husband runs the eyewear company CSC Group, decided to invite some of their employees to see Shen Yun Performing Arts in downtown San Jose on Jan. 6.
Shen Yun is “elegant, [with] beautiful dress, [and with] very beautiful dances,” said Mrs. Kim after seeing the performance.
New York based Shen Yun Performing Arts has the mission to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture. The performance, which has already been shown to millions of audience members around the world, primarily features classical Chinese dance—an art form that has a history of thousands of years.
“I really enjoyed the costumes. I thought it was beautiful dancing,” said Ms. Jenna Paille, who is an account manager at CSC Group.
Ms. Paille also found the performance to be an educational experience. “I got to learn a lot about the heritage … it was beautiful,” Ms. Paille said.
Mrs. Debbie Paille, who is Jenna’s mother, serves as the executive assistant to the company’s president Mr. D. K. Kim. She has been with CSC Group for 42 years. The company is among the top 20 full-service optical labs in the U.S., according to its website.
“I really enjoyed it, it was very educational too,” Mrs. Paille said. She said she particularly enjoyed learning about the history of the Chinese culture.
“The costumes were beautiful,” she said.
Another lucky employee who was in attendance at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts was Chong Tuthill, who is the warehouse manager for CSC Group.
She said “it was great” and that she had “never seen anything like this” before.
