HOUSTON—Dr. Iraj Jabbary brought over 80 of his staff members from offices in four different cities to see Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Jones Hall for Performing Arts in Houston on Dec. 28.
“I wanted to do something for my staff, for Christmas, so I brought them to see the show and everybody liked it,” said Dr. Jabbary, co-owner of ABC Dental.
“The costume, the culture, the story, the civilization, everything was very impressing,” said Dr. Jabbary.
Dr. Jabbary has long been recognized as a generous community leader, and in past years has bought and given away thousands of bikes to children during the Christmas season.
“This man is just amazing. He just lets us be ourselves. He does so much for the community, he just does so much for us. He let us to take part in this thing we have never done before, so it is beautiful,” said Ms. Jeana Manrique. “It was a big surprise for us that he brought all of us to see Shen Yun.”
“It is just so wonderful, the culture and traditions,” Ms. Manrique said.
The New York-based company’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of Chinese culture through traditional art forms like classical Chinese dance.
Ms. Carolina Turrubiates said the company is diverse in culture as well, and this Christmas outing was a great opportunity to learn about different cultures.
“Taking it back home, understanding that we’re all different, understanding that in our differences, we become stronger,” Ms. Turrubiates said. “We are going to … teach our children … we see each other at school and see each other on the street, and knowing that your difference and my difference will become something beautiful in this world.”
