LOS ANGELES-Audience members got a cultural treat on Jan. 26, at the sold out Shen Yun Performing Arts’ matinee performance at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Mr. Brad Haynes, a certified public accountant, was eager to share his enthusiasm afterward.

“It’s the best show of its kind I’ve ever seen,” he said.

Shen Yun is a New York-based performing arts company that tours to over 100 cities worldwide each year on a mission to revive China’s 5,000-year, divinely inspired culture, according to its website.

“A Shen Yun performance features the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending the sounds of both East and West, breathtaking backdrops, splendid costumes, vocalists—together creating an experience that’s leaving millions in awe,” states the website.

Mr. Haynes said he felt “light like a feather” after seeing Shen Yun.

“I’m not heavy anymore, just like the girls who were dancing,” he said. “The women were unbelievable because of the lightness. The way they move their feet is incredible. How they’re able to dance as well as they did with all the costumes, the mix of costumes, is just beyond belief.”

Performing classical Chinese dance, as well as ethnic and folk dance, the dancers of Shen Yun are adorned with handmade costumes.

Mr. Haynes was stunned by the beauty of the costumes.

“The colors were spectacular,” he said, adding some geniuses appear to be doing the designing, “because you never get tired of looking at the costumes.”

“And each one was better than the next,” he added.

According to the company website, “Shen Yun presents themes of compassion and courage with stunning beauty and tremendous energy, leaving audience uplifted and inspired.”

Mr. Haynes felt calm after the performance, which he described as “very spiritual, very serene.”

”It puts you in a different from of mind,” he said. “If you’ve got stress, go to Shen Yun. Go see it. You’ll feel a lot better when you leave.”
