COLUMBUS, Ohio—“Five-star, I’ll see it again,” said Mr. Jay Casey after seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company at the Ohio Theater on Saturday, Feb. 9. The business owner was very impressed by “the art, the color, the costume, the music, the choreography.”
Mr. Casey mentioned all the ways that New York-based Shen Yun seeks to revive the traditions, virtues and performing arts of China’s divinely inspired cultured. According to the companies website, “Shen Yun brings to life 5,000 years of Chinese civilization through classical Chinese dance and music.”
Mr. Casey owns and directs an international company.
“Because of the art and the discipline and the costume and the dance and music, I was very much impressed with Shen Yun,” he said.
He remarked on the many captivating visual elements, principally the one of a kind digital backdrops. According the the companies website, “Shen Yun’s digital-backdrop team creates vividly animated settings, extending the stage and transporting the audience to a world where heaven and earth are one.”
Mr. Casey was touched by the operatic solos in the show, commenting that they “had deep meaning for me.” The original compositions are sung in the classic bel canto style and are “brimming with philosophical reflection about human life and deep layers of meaning,” according the the Shen Yun website.
On the whole, Mr. Casey felt the show spoke directly “to my heart and to my soul.” He enjoyed the performance so much he plans attend another show before Shen Yun leaves town.
He added, “I send my congratulations to the orchestra—the music, the theater, the dance, the art, the highest level—congratulations to Shen Yun and the directors.”
