DENVER—After attorney Walther Gerash watched Shen Yun Performing Arts at Denver’s Buell Theater on Feb. 22, he expressed his admiration of Shen Yun’s deep inner meaning and beauty: “It gives you an emotional and visceral impression. The talent is so great and the communication is so powerful.”
Mr. Gerash is a distinguished lawyer, nicknamed “Mile-High Thunder” after the Mile-High City of Denver, and listed among the best lawyers in America. He successfully argued a case before the Supreme Court.
He felt warmth toward the performers in Shen Yun, “I love these artists.”
This was the first time he had seen Shen Yun. Mr. Gerash said it was new and unique for him. “It’s an aesthetic experience that I’ve never felt before.” To him, “It’s a great feeling, a great aesthetic feeling.”
The heart of Shen Yun is classical Chinese dance. “It has helped preserve 5,000 years of Chinese culture. … Over thousands of years, it was constantly refined, eventually developing into the vast and distinctly Chinese dance form we know today,” states the company’s website.
Classical Chinese dance has tremendous expressive power, conveying deep inner meanings and a standard for human morality. “Mortals and divine beings merge on stage as one. Principles such as benevolence and justice, propriety and wisdom, respect for the heavens, and divine retribution, all come to life, washing over the audience,” according to the website.
Mr. Gerash said he’ll be telling all his friends about Shen Yun, “Come see it!”
