ATLANTA—Darryl Ferguson, a prosecutor attorney for the city of Atlanta, and Tanya Ferguson, an insurance sales manager for Senior Life Services, and their daughter, Kennedy Ferguson, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Fox Theater.
“I thought it was spectacular,” Mr. Ferguson said after watching the show. “The visuals, the production, everything was a plus.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun presents 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through classical Chinese music and dance. “Every year, Shen Yun unveils an entirely new lineup of dances, songs, and musical scores,” according to Shen Yun’s website.
“It’s amazing,” Mr. Ferguson said. “Given all the production work that was done, it was really incredible. The visuals were spectacular,” he said.
Mrs. Ferguson said that it was visually stunning. “The costumes were just beautiful and the dancing of course was kind of second to none and beautiful to watch,” she said.
Kennedy has been learning Chinese in school, and she recommended Shen Yun to her parents after seeing the advertisements on the billboards. Kennedy is in kindergarten.
Mr. Ferguson said that although he has been to China, he thought it was pretty amazing that he could see a traditional Chinese culture performance in the U.S but not one he could see in China.
“I felt like it was pretty amazing to be honest with you,” he said.
Established in 2006, Shen Yun’s mission is to revive the traditional Chinese culture that was almost lost due to 60 years of Communist rule in China. Currently, Shen Yun cannot perform in China.
Mrs. Ferguson enjoyed learning the rich Chinese history in the performance. “It was a fantastic show,” she said.
