SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco, known as the City by the Bay, welcomes Shen Yun Performing Arts to the War Memorial Opera House January 3-8. Brady and Patricia Pyeatt, who attended Thursday night, have waited a year to see Shen Yun.

“I just wanted to see it because when it was here last year I missed it, so my wife bought me tickets for Christmas,” said Mr. Pyeatt.

“He’s not an easy person to shop for. I was walking through the mall and there was actually a display for the show and I said ‘Oh, perfect, I’ll get him tickets,’” said Mrs. Pyeatt.

Mr. Pyeatt, with a career in sales, had a wonderful first impression of Shen Yun: “I like it a lot, it’s very colorful. It’s a little different than anything I’ve ever seen before … The costumes are great. The music’s great too. It’s a very fabulous show.”

The costumes likewise impressed Mrs. Pyeatt who has background in costume design: “I thought they were absolutely spectacular. A lot of work and care and thought. The colors, the design, just beautiful.”

For years Mrs. Pyeatt designed costumes for a local dance company, with about 100 dancers, called ‘Don’t Quit Your Day Job Dancers.’

All of Shen Yun’s hundreds of gorgeous, hand-made garments span China’s dynasties, regions, and ethnic groups. “Every detail is given meticulous attention,” says the New York-based company’s website, explaining that the objective of the costume design is to “give an authentic presentation of the attire that comes from China’s divinely inspired traditional culture.”

For Mr. Pyeatt, he said he also loved Shen Yun’s signature digital backdrop that acts as an extension of the stage, and changes with every scene. “I love they way that they transition from the screen onto the stage, and the live music. It’s great. It’s a very entertaining show. I like it a lot.”

Mr. Pyeatt agreed with his wife, who said, “Everyone should see this show.”
