Narrowing down the decorating ideas for your patio is always difficult. One of the most engaging and inspirational ideas, however, is right above you.

Be inspired by the sun to make the most of your patio’s decor. With some easy color combinations and decorating ideas, you can bring the warmth of sun-inspired design to your outdoor patio. Use the ideas below to help you get started.

Awash in Color

One of the most exciting ways to bring a sun-inspired decor to life is to make ample use of the colors most associated with the sun. Yellows are, by far, the most recognizable sun-inspired shades. Use shades of yellow in your patio furniture’s cushions, on the area rug, and the patio awnings.

By creating a fresh burst of color with the main furniture elements in the room, you instantly draw focus to the bright, sun-inspired theme.

Wall Accents

Simply adding color to a sun-inspired patio, however, is not enough. It is also important to show a sun symbol in the decor. Wall-art accents are the perfect way to include a sun symbol in the patio decor.

If you cannot add accent pieces on the home’s exterior itself, consider hanging them on the patio pillars or along a railing instead. There are large sun metal pieces that can provide the look you want, whether it be an abstract geometrical sun shape or one that is more realistic in design.

A piece done in weathered copper or a metal that has been painted is preferable to one that is done in a brighter metal. Shop around to find the wall accent that works best for your patio space and design.

Accent Pieces

In addition to the blatant sun theme items, it is also a good idea to add other pieces that have some of the same yellow being used in their design. One overlooked accent that makes a stunning impact is the use of an artificial or cut bunch of sunflowers. These cheerful blooms instantly add an accent to the space and naturally bring in the theme of the sun.

Other pieces you may want to consider are sundials or outdoor clocks that are in the shape of sun. Earthy, bamboo wind chimes can also be added to the patio’s decor, especially if they have a sun medallion or theme to them.

Search for pieces that compliment the decor without being overpowering. There is no need to inundate the patio space with symbols of the sun to get a sun-inspired look. Moderation is key when it comes to accent pieces.

The patio is a wonderfully relaxing place to spend a summer afternoon and evening. Let the natural beauty and power of the sun inspire your decor to create a truly natural look. There are few decorating options that give you the presence and visual impact that a sun-inspired theme does. You, and your guests, will feel energized and cheerful with the addition of such a strong, natural element in place.
