The 2013 Resort collections have been unveiled, and they reveal a smorgasbord of exciting textures, shapes, and colors. Of the many inspiring looks on show, bold flower detail was one of my favorite trends.
Oscar de la Renta
I absolutely fell in love with Oscar de la Renta’s use of floral embroidery and prints. Although flowers are a familiar motif in his repertoire, the choice of rich, vibrant colors really brought to life the classic cuts.
Zac Posen
The Zac Posen collection was another that caught my eye. His dramatic tailoring creates the hourglass silhouette that is reminiscent of Dior femininity. There was only a hint of garden blooms through the use of a flowing violet printed fabric, but it was just enough to help soften the statement block-color designs.
Stella McCartney
The Stella McCartney presentation was held in New York on the Lower East Side. Models dressed in fun spring hues and wallpaper-inspired florals paraded the designer’s clothing among the crowd.
Marc Jacobs
For Marc Jacobs, it was all about a kaleidoscope of color clashed together to create eye-catching, bold looks. Playing with very conservative skirt lengths, Jacobs created interest by mixing prints and patterns. He also experimented with layers and keyhole cutouts on both the back and front.
