Former congressman Anthony Weiner should drop out of the New York City mayor’s race after another of his indiscretions came to light recently, say some voters in a new poll.

Asked whether Weiner should drop out, 53 percent of the 446 Democratic voters polled over the phone answered yes; 40 percent said no.

Of the specific groups polled, men said (52 to 37 percent) that Weiner should drop out, as did women (54 to 42 percent). White voters (64 to 25 percent) were more likely to say he should drop out than Black voters (42 to 53 percent).

The voters were also asked: “How much would you say the phrase ”has a strong personal moral character“ describes Anthony Weiner? Does it describe him a great deal, a good amount, somewhat, not so much or not at all?”

The most answers were 21 percent “somewhat;” 22 percent “not so much;” and 38 percent “not at all.”

The Quinnipiac University poll was conducted from July 24 through July 28.

Rivals of Weiner’s in the mayor’s race have also called for him to drop out

Weiner’s wife has defended her husband.

Weiner also dropped to fourth in the poll, getting the first-place position from 16 percent of the voters surveyed, compared with City Council Speaker Christine Quinn (27 percent), Public Advocate Bill de Blasio (21 percent), and former Comptroller William Thompson (20 percent).
