The 2013 LS 460 is the Lexus flagship sedan. With its bold exterior styling, highlighted by dynamic body lines from the new front grille as well as the new wheel design, the car is stunning.

Resting comfortably on a rigid platform, the LS delivers agility and responsiveness.

The LS line consists of LS 460 ($71,990), LS 460 L ($78,290), LS 460 F-Sport ($82,855), and the LS 600h ($119,910).

Resting comfortably on a rigid platform, the LS delivers agility and responsiveness.

The F-Sport model is equipped with performance features such as Brembo brakes, sport-tuned suspension and air suspension, limited slip differential, and F-Sport wheels.

It also has distinctive styling changes such as a special front bumper, grill inserts, and rear diffuser on the outside, plus aluminum foot pedals and accents inside.

The seats are fitted to keep you in place during hard cornering. Paddle shifters give you greater control over the transmission. On the outside the F-Sport is head-turning, while inside, all the attention comes from you. The F-Sport does 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds.

The LS 460/LS 460 L has a powerful 4.6-liter, 386-hp V-8 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission averaging 23 mpg. The body rigidity has been increased through the use of laser screw welding and other structural reinforcements. The end result is enhanced stability, handling, and steering feel.

The new LS is the first Lexus to offer energy efficient LEDs throughout—fog lamps, rear combination lamps, and even puddle lamps under the side mirrors.

The rear passenger area is comfortable with wide spacious seats, four-zone climate control, power adjustable outboard seats, and power rear-window and rear-door sunshades.

Wood-trimmed climate and audio controls are also part of the package. The focal point is the wide 12.3-inch split-screen high-resolution multimedia display, making it easy to use the technology.

Lexus has the ergonomic Remote Touch Interface device which functions similarly to a PC mouse, providing the driver and front passenger with convenient access to a range of features. I found it easy to use, whether changing radio channels or adjusting cabin temperature.

The instrument panel and center console have been redesigned for more dimension, which helps tired old eyes like mine to perceive a sense of spatial sophistication while making the controls easier to operate.

You can optimize the vehicle system in the LS to match your driving mood. Select from Normal, Comfort, and Sport modes for different levels of driving dynamics and comfort. On models equipped with air suspension, an Eco mode is added to optimize fuel efficiency, and the Sport mode is replaced by Sport S and Sport S+ modes.

As far as I’m concerned, the best convenience feature is the navigation system, which is easy to read and understand. The available Lexus Enform with App Suite leverages your smart phone and makes it easy to do a host of tasks like making movie and dinner reservations.

The LS 600h is a leader among luxury hybrids. This hybrid has six generations of hybrid experience behind it. With 438 total system horsepower, Lexus Hybrid Drive engine can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.

This is why the LS 600h with a cutting-edge hybrid technology can pass a 5.0 liter V-8 gasoline engine while achieving an average of 20-23 mpg.
