One skirt looked like a bird’s nest with real flowers and greenery. How do you sit in them, or you are not supposed to sit? I can’t imagine anyone buying dresses made of real flowers, but they were pretty to see. Their shelf life is certainly rather limited.
Janerations from Lithuania sent out a number of short shorts with long-sleeved jackets and intricate, embroidered high boots. The boots were unusual in that no two mates of the same pair matched each other. All the women around me thought there was something wrong with the shoes until we realized that it was deliberate.
Janerations’ jackets with and without fur are so beautiful. Many were knitted, flared, and hip-length with mink. They are very wearable. I’ve seen many knitted jackets with fur pieces, but these were some of the most beautiful.
It struck me that the two designers who seemed to be the biggest crowd-pleasers were George Kostos, who showed magnificent furs, and Janerations with its wool and knitted fur jackets. Obviously, women love fur.
Looking back on Fashion Week, I think most women went to the shows looking for clothes they could actually wear, as opposed to an unwearable fantasy, which is what we so often see. As usual, it was a mash-up with some pretty wearable things and other things that no women would ever wear.
