With their fabulous gowns, makeup, hair, and stylized accessories, these Hollywood celebrities strutted in style on the red carpet at the 2012 Emmy Awards on Sept. 23.

Vibrant colors were trending this year with metallics, cobalt blues, and dynamic yellows. There is a plethora of dresses and people to discuss, but the below focuses on the most noteworthy total ensembles.

Best-Dressed Female

Actress Sofia Vergara, Best Supporting Comedy nominee for Modern Family, simply wowed in a hand-beaded teal mermaid-like Zuhair Murad gown. To complete her glow, she adorned her look with 175 carats of Neil Lane jewels.

Celebrating the Top Chef nomination for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, Padma Lakshmi simply shined in a strapless orange Monique Lhuillier design.

Simplicity still has its place and is memorable. Nominated as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Nurse Jackie, Edie Falco made her mark in a modern silhouette—a color-blocked dress by Stella McCartney.

Project Runway beauty Heidi Klum wore a sea-foam Alexandre Vauthier dress with a larger-than-life slit and a deep V-neckline. Many women could never pull that off, but she does it!

Julianna Margulies, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series nominee for her Good Wife character, stood out in an intricate, embellished floral gown by Giambattista Valli Couture. Her elegance was apparent as she embraced the trend of wearing print.

Winning an Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie, Julianne Moore, who played Sarah Palin in Game Change, commanded attention in a canary yellow long-sleeve, full-skirted gown from Christian Dior Couture by Raf Simons. The yellow coloring gave exceptional contrast to the red-haired beauty’s signature locks and style.

Kat Dennings, 2 Broke Girls star, donned a glamorous and retro look with a strapless J. Mendel bright red gown.

Best-Dressed Male

Damian Lewis, winning his first Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Homeland, looked dapper in his black classic bow tie.

Best Pregnancy Bump

Claire Danes stunned us in a yellow Lanvin gown that was cut bump-friendly.

Being 6 months pregnant myself, I can appreciate the effort to find a flattering cut.

Danes pulled it off effortlessly, along with pulling off a flawless acceptance speech. The actress won her second Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Homeland.

Best Hair

Jessica Paré, Mad Men actress, wore an elegant white strapless gown by Jason Wu. Her styling was in character, especially with her retro hairstyle.
