BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—Fashion designer, Ms. Musumeci, was at the Shen Yun Performing Arts performance at the Auditorio Belgrano on Saturday evening July 4 and she said the show was “amazing!”
“I could not believe the colors! Such an unfolding of colors, and textures … I am speechless.
“What I liked the most was the violin [the erhu]. It made me cry. The message I got is that only the truth and kindness can give us hope.”
Audiences are often surprised by the expressiveness and powerful emotion conveyed by the two-stringed Chinese erhu, with its otherworldly quality that stirs the soul as few instruments can.
“It was not only that part but also the lyrics, and from all aspects, especially from all the colors and sounds.”
While it is in classical Chinese dance that the artists of Shen Yun have their foundational training, the New York-based company's performances include Chinese ethnic and folk dance making for a unique vision of Chinese traditional culture.
“I am impressed by the variety of movements and subtle ways of showing the sensitivity from different places. It is sort of a different focus. Then, I want to look for all those different textures, emotions from a different framework, from the conjuncture of all those senses; that is what is happening. I can’t explain it. It comes from different places. This is the first time I see a Chinese show. It was really nice … I really like it.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts will be performing in Buenos Aires until July 5. Santiago, Chile, will host three shows from July 10 to 12. The show will then return to Argentina on July 16, this time in Cordoba, performing three shows until July 18.
