BUENOS AIRES, Argentina— Presenting true Chinese classical dance and music, New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts captivated the audience on Thursday night, July 2, at Auditorio Belgrano.
Among them was Mr. Vegas, a city government employee, who likes Chinese culture and said the show was “really nice.”
“I like it … I honestly liked it a lot. I have seen some [Chinese culture] at China Town events, but nothing in comparison with this. This is a mega show for me, very, very good.”
Mr. Vegas felt the show represented a visual sense of beauty and showed emotion and tranquillity “that calms you down.”
He said he liked all the performances and in particular he said, “I liked the drums, they were very good. The Chinese violin [erhu]. I think that the player was excellent; I really appreciate that kind of music … I like Chinese music a lot.”
The erhu is a two-stringed Chinese instrument known for its melancholic and hauntingly beautiful sound.
Mr Vegas also enjoyed the synchronicity of the dancers, saying: “The males were very good; the girls … an impressive synchronization, that’s what I like from the Oriental … that synchronized movement … all in unison.”
Another feature of the Shen Yun performance is the state-of-the-art digital three dimensional backdrop that accompanies each act, it lends a vibrant background to each performance, something Mr. Vegas enjoyed.
“I think it was very good how they incorporated characters into the screen, as when the characters disappear … is so good.”
Mr. Vegas would definitely recommend the show to others, saying: “I actually have a friend in Córdoba and I am planning to email him to tell him to go and see it there.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts will be performing in Buenos Aires until July 5. Santiago, Chile, will host three shows from July 10 to 12. The show will then return to Argentina on July 16, this time in Cordoba, performing three shows until July 18.
