NEW YORK, U.S.—On April 25, 2009, nearly 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners in the greater New York area held a rally and grand parade in Flushing, New York, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the April 25, 1999 peaceful demonstration by Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Some Chinese living in New York took advantage of the opportunity while viewing the parade to visit the Global Service Center for Quitting Chinese Communist Party (QCCP) at Flushing to renounce their membership in the CCP and its affiliated organizations. In a short span of about two hours, the Epoch Times found eight people visiting the QCCP to announced their withdrawals from the CCP, with two of them using aliases while the others using their real names.
Mr. Chen Jingda, a Chinese living in Brooklyn who seldom went to Flushing and did not have the access to the Internet, had long wanted to quit the CCP, but didn’t know how to do it. He told The Epoch times, “The reason why I wanted to renounce the CCP was that the 'CCP is indeed very evil.' In addition to persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, it has also persecuted many others. I just cannot tolerate the atrocities committed by the CCP, and do not want to be part of it. I want to use my real name to quit CCP and I have nothing to worry about it.”
When studying in China’s Fujian Province during the June 4th Tiananmen Square Massacre, Mr. Cheng participated in the demonstration supporting the students in Beijing. However, he found that all of the news carried by the Chinese media during that period of time was nothing more than the overwhelming propaganda about how peaceful the military was in repressing the “riot” and the lies that “no students died on Tiananmen Square.” He knew that the government was lying because "the fact was that the military opened fire on the students."
When asked whether his membership with in the CCP and its affiliated organization would be invalid after becoming elderly, he said, “It doesn’t count, as nobody would know that if it is was invalid automatically. Therefore, I want to renounce it openly.”
Zhang Xiuchen, another Chinese who quit CCP on April 25 said, “The CCP has brought tremendous tragic disasters to the entire world from its inception. In particular, it has resulted in the death of tens of millions of Chinese people in mainland China. If the CCP continues to exists, the world will never attain peace. Only after the collapse of the CCP can Chinese people have hope for a bright future.”
Mr. Cheng, a volunteer at the “QCCP” told The Epoch times that he found the number of people renouncing the CCP and its affiliated organization on April 25 was more than other normal days, and that all those who quit the CCP wanted to get the Quitting CCP Certificate issued by The Epoch Times on the spot.”
