“I think it's a beautiful interpretation of Chinese culture and ancient history,” Mr. Raftery said.
“Beautiful” is how Doris Wight, PhD and award winning writer, described Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company's evening performance at the Overture Center for the Arts.
“I like the colors, the choreography, the energy that the participant’s communicated, and I liked the spiritual themes,” said Stephen Pearson.
“It's beautiful, it's beautiful the way they express the culture. It's beautiful performance” was Ms. Del Pozo’s reaction to what she saw.
Mr. Edg Duveyoung felt the live orchestra was excellent as well, saying “I'm very impressed, very impressed.”
Brenda Sorenson: “I think those were colors that although they were bright and brilliant, they're definitely in nature and I think they probably strive to find the colors [...]
“One of the things that took my breath away was the very first opening number."
“I'm struck that they have three touring companies at the same time. That's quite remarkable,” Mr. Dennis Maki said.
"It’s a very, very spiritual show. It's based upon, as [it is said] in the [program] book, divine blessing, just like in the opening. It's very beautiful. I wouldn't miss this."

Mr. Liossis also enjoyed the solo vocalists. "It was very nice. I understood the lyrics on the screen, they were very touching," he said.
For David Slocum, one of the founding members of the CNY Ballet Company, Shen Yun was an entirely new experience.
Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage at The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater on May 12, delighting the audience with a revival of the oldest culture in the world.
“It lifts my spirit,” Carol Smith said. “I'm absolutely changed by the music.”
“I think it's wonderful just how 'classic' it is,” said Dr. Scharoun of Shen Yun. “I'm really starting to understand a lot of the history of China through the dance.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts presented a revival of the 5,000-year-old Chinese culture at the The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater Sunday night.
Ms. Catherine Koch said the singing was “powerful” and said she hadn't heard the style used by Chinese singers before. “That was really awesome,” she said. “I loved it.”
Mrs. Gao deeply appreciated many aspects of the performance. She said "The orchestra was great! The dancing was excellent. The singing was also awesome."
“I loved the dancing. I love the colors,” Dr. Authur Ostrowski said of the May 12 performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company at the Cadillac Palace Theater.
Dr. Robert Gasior was impressed by the opening number, Descending to the World, and said, "It was superb, I thought everything—was quite excellent."
