PASADENA, Calif.—Mr. Miranda, CEO and Music producer of a music production company could feel the energy and spirituality of the performances of The Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Los Angeles on Saturday night, Jan. 3.
Mr. Miranda particularly appreciated the live orchestra and showed a depth of understanding or the degree of difficulty of combining live music with dance performances. He explained, “The live orchestra... normally a lot of times shows will have canned music and the fact is that this was a live orchestra and the sound was like studio quality, it was outstanding.
He continued, "I love live music, to see that coupled with the dancers and stuff, I don’t know what else you could call it, organic! As opposed to very mechanical and staged, because when you’re dancing up there, you’re obviously listening for the music and the cues, but when it’s live people it’s not the same every single show and I know they do several different shows. It relates to and touches the audience a lot, easier then just sitting back and watching a movie or something.”
Mr. Miranda was also aware of the spiritual aspect and the entire energy of the performances, he shared, “The feeling to me is serenity… a type of spiritual nirvana. The way American society is, it’s so stressful, high paced and chaotic, I can come here and enjoy the show. Watching it, I can enjoy it even with my eyes closed and just feel the energy and spirituality of it coming through still.”
“Its exhilarating it takes you beyond the performance, it takes you to a place in your inner being where everything feels alright, everything feels good, there’s no drama, there’s no stress, there’s no chaos, even when the dancers portray those things [the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party] in their dance you still feel uplifted, you have this feeling that’s it still going to be all right,” he said.
When asked for three words to describe the DPA performance he replied, “Exhilarating, enlightening, and tranquil.”
This was the seventh of eight performances by the DPA International Company as part of their 2009 World Tour.
