“[Their treatment is] worse than fascists,” said the informer.
According to the source, Gao Zhisheng has become more hopeful despite being subjected to months of torture. However his wife Geng He and daughter Gege are on the verge of a breakdown. “The mother and daughter are at the brink of mental breakdown,” said the insider.
Fearing Chinese authorities might identify him and mete out revenge, the source dared not reveal more details. As to torture Gao and his family are subjected to, the source described them as, “inhuman tortures. I cannot tell you. It breaks my heart to say. It hurts too much.”
The source confirmed that Gao Zhisheng and his family of three have been incarcerated in Daxing, south of Beijing, after they were abducted by Chinese authorities a few months before the Olympic Games. The rumor saying they are imprisoned in Hebei Province is not true.
The source also revealed that Gao’s daughter Gege, son Gao Tianyu, as well as Gao’s parents and his brother have also been taken to Daxing. Mrs. Gao and Gege have endured torment to the point of mental breakdown. Gege is denied her right to attend school. The source said he prays for the family every day.
Gege, a junior high school student, was forced to quit school. According to a Beijing resident, Gege was attending Hepingli Middle School in Beijing in the spring of 2007. A while ago, someone visited Gao’s home in Beijing, but the home was abandoned. No one in the neighborhood knew Gege’s whereabouts.
Known as “China’s Conscience” and author of A China More Just, Gao Zhisheng published his third open letter to China’s top leaders on September 12, 2005, in which he included first-hand information, documented data and evidence of Beijing’s brutal suppression of human rights. Gao and his family have been harassed by authorities ever since.
