The guesses over the designer of the dress were settled when the bride walked down the aisle Saturday evening in an ivory strapless Vera Wang silk gown that extended to the floor. The custom-made dress also had a bejeweled and shimmering waistband, according to People magazine.
Wang, a Clinton family friend, was seen earlier on Saturday by reporters after she walked out of a local restaurant in Rhinesbeck, N.Y. She was among the 400-plus guests at the wedding in the village.
Burberry Creative Director Christopher Bailey, another family friend, designed the groom’s tuxedo and ex-President Bill Clinton’s tie. The bride’s mother, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, selected a wine-colored gown designed by her good friend Oscar de la Renta.
Since Chelsea Clinton confirmed her engagement to investment banker Mezvinsky in 2009, the public has been speculating about her choice of wedding gown.
Wang launched her line of bridal dresses in 1990 at her flagship salon at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City, which is still open today, according to the designer’s website.
Designing luxurious gowns from classical to modern, Vera Wang has become a synonym for star-studded wedding.
