Corey Haim's death wasn't suicide, said longtime friend and co-star Corey Feldman on Thursday.
Haim died in what appeared to be a prescription drug overdose on Wednesday, according to a CBS report. Feldman, who starred along Haim in the 1987 movie The Lost Boys said he most likely didn't try to kill himself via drug overdose.
Haim for the past several days had flu-like symptoms. His mother, Judy Haim, called 911 and Haim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
“I don't think it was an intentional overdose,” said Feldman on the “The Early Show” on CBS. He added that Haim had overdosed quite a few times and battled drug “addiction for most of his adult life.”
The 38-year-old actor's mother was recently diagnosed with cancer, which caused a marked change in Haim's life, said Feldman. He added that the shift in Haim's life caused him to clean up his act, which is why he doesn't suspect an overdose.
Haim's manager Mark Heaslip told Haim's mother in a report to CNN that the Los Angeles County coroner said he suffered from pulmonary congestion.
Larry King Live
On the Larry King Live show on Wednesday night, Feldman said that when Haim died, he was “very destitute, very broke," and lived with his mother.
Feldman added that he had no support for the last “10 years, the last 15 years of his life.”
Feldman said there will be a large funeral service for the actor.
"You see these people making great statements and that's wonderful and I hope they're all there for the memorial and I hope they're all there for the funeral,” said Feldman. “But where were they during his life?"
Haim and Feldman made eight films together.
